This paper explores the role of a firm's product and/or market export experience and experimentation for survival of new product-destination export spells, using firm-level Spanish customs data over the period 1997-2015. Previous research has documented a positive impact of experience on export survival. Heterogeneous gains from countercyclical fiscal policy: new evidence from international industry-level data

Abstract Empirical evidence to date suggests a positive relationship between fiscal policy countercyclicality and growth. But do all industries gain equally from countercyclical fiscal policy? What are the channels through which countercyclical fiscal policy affects industry-level growth? We answer these questions by applying a difference-in-difference approach to an unbalanced panel of 22 manufacturing industries for 55 countries—including both advanced and developing economies—during the period 1970–2014. German Bank Lending During Emerging Market Crises: A Bank Level Analysis

2007

This paper studies German bank lending during the Asian and Russian crises, using a bank level data set, which has been compiled from credit data at the Deutsche Bundesbank. Our aim is to gain more insight into the pattern of German bank lending during financial crises in emerging markets. We find that German banks reacted to the Asian crisis mainly by reallocating their portfolios among emerging markets. This behaviour is consistent with active portfolio management and does not necessarily indicate a spontaneous reaction to the Asian crisis. The role of the distribution platform in price formation of paid apps

In this paper we study the role of the distribution platform as an important determinant of price of paid apps. We also examine how the distribution platform influences the price implications of important developers' app-level decisions. To these purposes, we construct a hierarchical model of price formation by using an ad-hoc panel dataset consisting of top paid apps from the two major app stores, namely Apple's App Store and Google Play. Our findings show that prices of paid apps strongly depend on the platform where the apps are marketed. Specifically, the App Store is associated with lower prices for paid apps than Google Play. Using Daily Store-level Data to Understand Price Promotion Effects in a Semiparametric Regression Model

Though it has been widely reported in the marketing literature that temporary price discounts generate substantial short-term sales increase, the shape of the deal effect curve constitutes a key research topic, for which there are still limited empirical results. To address this issue, a semiparametric regression approach is used to model the complex nature of this phenomenon. A statistical calibration model for Affymetrix probe level data

Gene expression microarrays allow a researcher to measure the simultaneous response of thousands of genes to external conditions. Affymetrix GeneChip{ $Ⓡ$} expression array technology has become a standard tool in medical research. Anyway, a preprocessing step is usually necessary in order to obtain a gene expression measure. Aim of this paper is to propose a calibration method to estimate the nominal concentration based on a nonlinear mixed model. This method is an enhancement of a method proposed in Mineo et al. (2006). The relationship between raw intensities and concentration is obtained by using the Langmuir isotherm theory.
